Starman è una canzone scritta da David Bowie e pubblicata come 45 giri il 14 aprile del 1972. Il brano è anche la quarta traccia del disco “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars“.
Starman è considerato un brano fra i più belli del “duca bianco” scomparso il 10 gennaio 2016 (leggi l’articolo) pochi giorni dopo avere compiuto 69 anni.
In questi giorni è stato comunicato che il prossimo 4 novembre la casa d’aste americana Julien metterà all’asta il testo originale di Starman, documento originale con una stesura provvisoria del brano, realizzato personalmente da David Bowie.
Il valore dello scritto è stato stimato intorno alle 4.000 sterline, e corrisponde in gran parte alla versione definitiva del brano poi inserito nel disco, a parte alcuni versi che sono stati cambiati, come ad esempio ‘Came back on a wave of phase’, che si è trasformato in ‘Came back like a slow voice on a wave of phase haze’.
Il testo di Starman ha un valore enorme perché si tratta, a tutti gli effetti, di una bozza manoscritta da David Bowie.
