I testi e le poesie inedite di Johnny Cash sono stati trasformati in un nuovo album di collaborazioni dal suggestivo titolo “Johnny Cash: Forever Words” che uscirà il 6 aprile tramite la Legacy Recordings.
Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Carlene Carter, Brad Paisley, John Mellencamp, Kacey Musgraves, T Bone Burnett, Jamey Johnson, The Jayhawks, Jewel, I’m With Her, Dailey & Vincent, Robert Glasper, Ro James, Anu Sun e Ruston Kelly sono tra i musicisti selezionati per questo progetto.
Il figlio di Cash, John Carter Cash, è stato il co – produttore del disco ed ha definito il tutto “un mostruoso ammasso” di materiale inedito.
Tra le canzoni si distingue “You Never Knew My Mind” ovvero l’ultima registrazione di Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave) che venne già, a sua volta, omaggiato da Cash con la sua versione di “Rusty Cage” contenuta nel suo album “Unchained” del 1996.
Come ha dichiarato poi lo stesso John Carter Cash al Los Angeles Time “scegliere l’artista per ogni canzone è stata davvero una questione di cuore. Ho scelto gli artisti che erano più connessi con mio padre e che avevano una storia personale legata a lui. È stato davvero uno sforzo eccitante quello di passare attraverso tutti questi lavori, metterli assieme e presentarli a persone diverse che li avrebbero finiti nella maniera che, io credo, mio padre avrebbe voluto”.
